SMO 254 Round Bar
SMO 254 belongs to an austenitic alloy steel grade. The SMO 254 Round Bar is designed with an outstanding chemical composition of chromium, nickel, iron, molybdenum, carbon, and nitrogen. The UNS S31254 Round Bar is designed in a circular cross sectional area and has enhanced resistance to corrosive and oxidative media across stress-induced setups. The grade of F44 Round Bar isprotected against chloride corrosion and sulfuric cracking conditions. The versatile grade of pipes can be easily welded following standard procedures. The ASTM A479 F44 Black Round Bar has a density of 8 g/cm3 with a minimum tensile strength of 680mpa. These bars showcase a minimum yield strength of 300mpa with a modulus of elasticity of 195 GPA. 254 SMO Bar has a hardness of 210 Brinell and showcases a shear modulous of 75Gpa. Forging, upsetting, and other operations involving this material can be carried out at temperatures ranging from 982 to 1149°C (1800 to 2100°F). Temperatures above this range are not recommended because they will result in scaling and a reduction in the material's workability.
Alloy 254-SMO is difficult to machine due to its extremely high work hardening rate combined with a total sulphur deficiency. Sharp tools, powerful machine tools, plenty of lubrication, positive feeds, and slow speeds typically produce the best results.
